So we will be welcoming Jude Simons & Tina Whitley from Arizona non-profit Civic Engagement Beyond Voting to help our community learn how to get involved to defend ourselves--without having to take a bunch of time to do it! They will cover the reasons to get involved in our state politics and how to register for and use the state legislature's Request to Speak system\, which is the most direct way to have your voice heard in the state capitol. Arizona's Request to Speak (RTS) is an online tool that lets everyday citizens give Arizona state lawmakers our feedback on bills. It's an easy way to get involved in state politics\, stay informed on the bills that directly affect us\, and make sure our elected officials honor the wishes of us\, their constituents. It's basically Facebook for legislators use a thumbs up/thumbs down to tell them your thoughts on a bill. Reporters and legislators read your comments and use them in committee hearings and even on Twitter! Getting registered for the RTS system typically requires an in-person visit to the capitol\, but CEBV has got you covered. I lived for 30 years outside of Munich\, Germany as a teacher for students with learning disabilities at the Munich International School Middle School. We moved back to AZ in 2015.
