With a background in education, law, counseling, media, GLBT issues, and volunteer management, Scott (he/him pronouns) helped start TIHAN in 1994 to engage the community to address the growing crisis of HIV affecting our lives, and the accompanying issues of religious homophobia. He is a champion of equality, justice, and inclusion for persons who are LGBTQ+ and persons who are living with and affected by HIV. He has been featured in many print and television stories, and has received community awards, including the 2018 Community Leader of the Year from the Tucson GLBT Chamber of Commerce, the William S. MacDonald Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 from Equality Arizona, and the United Methodist Global AIDS Leadership Award from the United Methodist Church’s Global AIDS Fund, presented at their international conference in 2016. Scott enjoys University of Arizona sports (especially basketball and football) and volunteering his time to causes close to his heart.
