Plus, a BIG exciting announcement from the Chamber: introducing the Tucson LGBT Chamber of Commerce Foundation! The Foundation is dedicated to education within and about the LGBTQ community.
It will provide scholarships to LGBTQ students at the UA, advocate for educational opportunities for the LGBTQ community, and provide education to the general public on LGBTQ issues.
We will have lots of info and opportunities to donate and support at breakfast--or you can get a jump on getting involved now!
Panelists: How to Be a Good Ally to the LGBT Community
Lizette Trujillo is a Tucson small business owner and community advocate for transgender youth and families. She spends much of her time volunteering for the Southern Arizona Gender Alliance, where she and her spouse facilitate a local support group for families of transgender, gender creative/non-conforming youth. Her local efforts have brought her national attention and she now serves as a member of the Human Rights Campaign Parent Trans Equality Council. Lizette is a proud mother to an 11 year old trans child, and enjoys being a mother above all else. Lizette has learned so much through her child's experience, and is committed to creating awareness and change around trans youth and their needs.
Anne Dougherty
Five years ago, Anne Dougherty left a thriving practice at large and successful energy service company to create a new kind of consulting agency. With co-founder Sara Conzemius, Anne's goal was to reboot workplace culture to ultimately change the status quo and grow more women in leadership. ILLUME Advising has achieved this and more. ILLUME's culturally diverse, mostly female, team of consultants have a reputation for delivering clear insight in fresh and game-changing ways. Anne is a skilled researcher and customer experience design consultant who specializes in the human dimensions of energy technologies and resource management. She is a widely known expert in behavior change strategies, marketing, education and outreach research, and emerging smart grid technologies.
Eric Plemons is Associate Professor in the School of Anthropology at the University of Arizona, where he also serves as Director of the concentration and certificate programs in Medical Anthropology, and as the Co-Chair of the Transgender Studies Research Cluster.
Hamilton (They/Them) is a Black/Chicanx feminist, born and raised Tucsonan, and is working towards their Masters Degree in School Counseling at the University of Arizona. They have a deep passion to work with trans and queer youth of color. Additionally, they are privileged to work as a graduate assistant at LGBTQ+ Resource Center, supporting queer students at the University of Arizona. Hamilton enjoys being in nature, all things plants, funk and disco, and playing with their pit bull Frankie. They are also a Virgo, Taurus rising, and a Gemini moon.
