An End-of-Life Doula, also known as a death doula or death midwife, is a trained professional who provides non-medical, holistic support to individuals and their families during the final phase of life. Our End-of-Life Doulas provide a calming presence, offering compassionate companionship to those approaching the end-of-life. They are there to listen, comfort, and share in the journey. An End-of-Life Doula works with dying people and their families to create a peaceful end-of-life experience. Doulas coach, hold space, and mediate the transition to death for people and their communities. We are committed to expanding End-of-Life Doula services, through our certification program. The details of which may be found below. This 40-hour training provides prospective Doulas with information about death and dying, grieving, hospice and palliative care, as well as specific hands-on experience creating vigils, legacy projects, and tools to provide compassionate care to those at end-of-life. Anyone wishing to work with people at end-of-life including caregivers, hospice workers, social workers, nurses, counselors, medical professionals, religious clergy, life coaches, grief specialists, etc. CEUs are available for Nurses, Facility Managers, and training is in alignment with ICF coaching portfolio requirements. Other CEUs may be available upon request. Upon completing the coursework in this program, participants can engage in either volunteer or external fieldwork experiences. Doulas will shadow hospice care teams, attend a death, complete intake interviews, and support a hospice patient from intake to death.
